Underwater portrait photography is something I have been enjoying for the last few years. It’s something just so magical when being under the water and seeing what the world above can’t. I love it.
At the end of the summer I had a fun session with Emily. It was a dark, cold, and rainy day, but thankfully the pool was heated so we stayed in for a couple of hours. She goes to the Sudbury Synchro Club, and thus is very comfortable under water. She did a wonderful job holding her breath, and working with the long gray fabric.
Here are some of her shots from our photo session together. Special equipment is used to protect my camera from the water!
I just love how deep it looks. A lot of Photoshop work goes into a session like this.
Visual illusion. Stepping into the void? You decide.
I created this green Mermaid tail last summer and I was very happy that I finally got to use it in the water. I think I will create a few more for next summer’s sessions:
Thank you so much Emily for being a good model for me. Looking forward to more to come!
